We are delighted that Sunderland Culture has been successful in its application to Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Investment Programme, and has been awarded additional investment for 2023-2026 as a Levelling Up for Culture place.
Over the next 3 years, we will continue to work hard so that communities across Sunderland can access great cultural experiences at National Glass Centre, Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, Arts Centre Washington and The Fire Station.
We know the difficult economic context in which these decisions were made and we are grateful for ongoing public investment in culture and for the impact it has. The additional investment from Arts Council England builds on the momentum and achievements of the past four years and will help us to increase cultural and creative opportunities for people in Sunderland. We are committed to build on this investment to fully realise the transformative potential of culture and creativity for the city and its communities.
We are delighted to see that Sunderland based Southpaw Dance and Surface Area Dance CIC will also be joining the Arts Council England’s National Portfolio.
