How long has the Craft Fair been running at National Glass Centre?
We’ve had a Craft Fair at National Glass Centre for over ten years, and one of the main reasons we do it is to support local artists and makers, some do it for a living, others do it on the side. We feel it’s important that National Glass Centre provides a space for them to come together to sell their fantastic creations.
What can folks expect from the November Fair?
The Craft Fair will be an eclectic mix of people who make jewellery, prints, photography, glass, others specialise in sea glass, textiles, and upcycling. It’s a splendid range of works on display, all of which are available to purchase at the Fair. We’ve also got some third-year glass students displaying and selling their works too.
In addition to all the great sellers, will there be other things happening across the weekend as part of the Fair?
Yes. We’ve arranged for a local choir to sing Christmas carols, which will create a fabulous festive atmosphere as they echo around the building. The café will also be available for coffees, cakes, hot meals, sandwiches, and I’m sure a mince pie or two, and of course, both galleries are also open to wander around. Past Fairs have been remarkably busy, which is lovely, and this one is shaping up to be another great weekend.
Does any of the work on display at the Craft Fair end up on sale at the National Glass Centre shop?
Some of it does, yes, which is terrific. Often, as a follow up to a Fair, we have student displays and things like that, but certainly several of the suppliers that feature in our Fair will have their work available to buy in our shop.
The Craft Fair is at National Glass Centre on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November between 10am and 5pm. Entry is free.
