COVID-19 Closure Notice

Updated 30 June 2020

Following the Government’s announcement that the reopening of cultural venues can begin from 4th July, colleagues at Sunderland City Council and the University of Sunderland are working hard behind the scenes to ensure the safety of visitors and staff before opening venues in the city, which is likely to happen in a phased way over the coming weeks and months.

Keep an eye out for further announcements here on our website and on our social media channels. Please note, specific venue reopening information will be made available on each venue’s website.

Anyone who has pre-booked for activity or events between 19 March and 31 July will be contacted directly.

In light of the most recent government measures to control the spread of Covid-19 virus, Arts Centre Washington, National Glass Centre, Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, and Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens will be closed to the public until further notice.

We have taken this decision in the best interests of our audiences, visitors and participants.

We will review the situation on a weekly basis and further updates will be posted on our social media and website channels.
