140th Anniversary of Sunderland Museum

In 2019 Sunderland commemorated the 140th anniversary of its Museum and Art Gallery opening on Borough Road, a purpose-built facility housing the ever-growing museum collections. It also celebrated 140 years of collecting art for the people of the city. 

This display includes works acquired during each decade since the 1870s and is a fascinating exploration of the fashion and tastes of the day.
