Amelia Coburn + support
Friday 7th June, doors 7.30pm, tickets £8
Since being nominated for the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards in 2017 Teesside’s Amelia Coburn has been busy. Not only has she consolidated her reputation as a leading light in the world of all things ukulele with appearances across Europe at festivals but has also been invited by David Gedge of Indie legends The Wedding Present to support them in Paris and at his At the Edge Of the Sea festival in Brighton.
With her beautful, haunting voice, beguiling folk-tinged original material and an ever expanding repertoire of unusual cover versions played on equally unusual instruments (kazoo, stylophone, glockenspiel anyone?) Amelia has to be seen and heard to be fully appreciated and her natural charm can win over even the most rowdy of audiences. Her recent studies have taken her to France, Mexico and soon to Russia so catch her while you can on one of these rare, intimate UK dates.
