This February half term we are celebrating the opening of the Bright Lights Youth Arts Exhibition  with a week of activities and performances for and by young people!

Arts Centre Washington’s annual Youth Arts Exhibition is looking for submissions for BRIGHT LIGHTS 2022. Supported by Sunderland Culture, BRIGHT LIGHTS will showcase some of the most exciting artwork by young people in Washington and the Greater Sunderland Area, and will be curated by The Celebrate Different Collective.

Screening of ‘Poems of Town’
Tuesday 22 Feb, 7pm
A recording and documentary about the 2021 music project where a group of young people wrote a new ep with Field Music and Poet Paul Summers

Bright Lights Young Artists Workshop
Wed 23 Feb 10am – 12pm, Free

Join artist Liz Carter in this creative art workshop to try something new, develop your artistic skill and meet other creative young people.

Suitable for ages 13+

Little Timmy Starts a Revolution
Wednesday 23 Feb, 3pm + 6pm, Free

Washington Youth Theatre invite you to join them as they fight for what is right – universal access to delicious ice cream! But is a delicious dairy-dessert all that’s at stake?

Creative Me Workshop
Thursday 24 Feb, 1 – 3pm
Free Arts and Wellbeing session for young people aged 13 – 18.

The session will provide a friendly creative space to explore painting, printing and collage techniques. Any level of ability welcome

Song Writing Workshop with Right Track
Friday 25 February – 1 – 3pm, Free
Join the young musicians from ‘Right Track’ for a creative workshop,  as they take you through their creative process from scratch – composing the song, creating the arrangement and rehearsing the song. Suitable for ages 12+

Bright Lights Gig
with the Right Track Music young musician’s project – Friday 25 February, from 7pm
‘Right Track’ are a group of Young musicians and songwriters who work collaboratively to write, record and perform new music and songs.

Planet Earth workshop
Saturday 26 February 1 – 3pm, free
Free arts activities for families and young people with recycled materials led by local artists. This event has been organised by Arts Centre Washington’s Make It Happen young people’s group, raising awareness of the climate crisis.
