Bring to Light
14 September – 6 September 2020
Collections Gallery
Across world cultures and time, glass and ceramics have been used as materials to make objects that contain light. These objects are practical, they keep us safe from open flame or they diffuse the glare of the electric light bulb. Many artists and designers have taken these practical requirements and used glass and ceramics to create beautiful light sources that also reflect cultural or religious significance, design styles of a particular time and the skill of mastering different techniques associated with working in glass or ceramics
The exhibition consists of works from National Glass Centre’s collection and loans from the Victoria & Albert Museum’s (V&A) collection. The exhibition supports DesignLab Nation, the V&A’s National Schools Programme, which aims to inspire the next generation of designers.
