Free weekly arts workshops for young people aged 11–19 in the Washington area.


Teenage Craft Club – Tuesdays (Fortnightly), 5-6:30pm, free.
A space to for young people to meet, learn and create. Learn craft skills with a variety of guest artists and makers and get the chance to sell your work at craft fairs.

30th April – Dream Catcher – we will be creating 60’s inspired dream catcher using a range of new and reused items: ribbons, beads, and charms.

14th May & 4th June – Tie Dye – we will be learning about the technique of tie dye, mixing colours and creating patterns to create tie dye socks, bags and flowers to sell at the Washington 60 event. We will be creating branding and labels for our enterprise project.

18th June – Badges – we will be creating badges and creating our own designs inspired by the 60’s using vintage fabric, magazines and books.


Bright Lights Young Artists Collective – Tuesdays, 7:00-8:30pm, free. (There is a waiting list for this session – please register and we will be in touch with availability)
A group for young people who want to develop their artistic skills and knowledge.
• Develop your style / practice
• Work with and meet local professional artists
• Take part in workshops in different art forms
• Share ideas with likeminded young artist


Washington Young Film Makers Collective – Based at Washington Millennium Centre – Mondays, 4:30-6:30pm, free.
Write, shoot and edit your own movies learning about the equipment and techniques along the way in this fun series of free workshops!


Washington Young Writers Collective – Based at Washington Millenium Centre – Wednesdays (Fortnightly), 4:30-6:30pm, free.
Hone your creative writing skills in a friendly, laid-back environment. Join other like-minded young writers to learn and try out different forms, styles and genres.

Creative You Expression of Interest Form

Creative You is a project for young people living or educated in Washington. Therefore places will be allocated on this basis.


Creative You is supported by Sunderland City Council’s Washington Area Committee.

The project based from Arts Centre Washington and led by Sunderland Culture in partnership with Washington Mind.
