Elvis on Tour + Talk with Gordon Minto

Wednesday 17th July, 1:30pm, Tickets £4 (£3.50 for Nifties members)

Join writer and Elvis ‘expert’ Gordon Minto (co-author of the highly respected Elvis UK series of books) as he talks about Elvis Presley’s importance to RCA’s Washington factory in the 1970s – and how he (Elvis) inadvertently saved the factory from closure in 1977!

The talk also includes some of the reminiscences Gordon noted from interviews with former RCA staff who worked at the factory, as well as describing his lifelong work in chronicling in great detail Elvis’s UK record output from 1956 onwards.

Preceding the talk is a screening of the 1972 documentary – Elvis on Tour. Capturing Elvis on his whirlwind 1972 American tour, the film features performances, backstage moments and Presley’s candid personal reflections on his rise to superstardom.

This event is part of Washington 60 – celebrating 60 years of Washington New Town.
