Heritage Open Day: Mini Manifestos

17 September , 11am – 3pm

170 High Street West, Sunderland, SR1 3

Do you want to change the world?

Inspired by this years Heritage Open Day theme of “People Power” and stories of Sunderland’s own “rebel women”, this is a hands-on session for mini-activists to make their own badges and placards, write their own manifestos and nominate their own inspirational women of Sunderland!

We will be joined by a storytelling suffragette who will be sharing newly-commissioned stories by writer Jessica Andrews of the “Rebel Women of Sunderland”. This event will also be the first chance to see the accompanying artwork by illustrator Kathryn Robertson.

This event is aimed at children aged 5+, but younger siblings are welcome too! Art activities are drop-in and will run throughout the day; storytelling times are 11.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm. Activities are free.

This activity is part of Sunderland Culture’s Great Place programme, which is funded by Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Community Fund. It is produced in partnership with Sunderland’s Heritage Action Zone, Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust and Open Heritage, and is part of Sunderland’s Heritage Open Day programme.
