Home educators: Changing States
Join us for our Home Educators: Changing States Workshop on either Wednesday 7 June, Wednesday 14 June or Wednesday 28 June from 9.45-2.15pm.
Please only book one workshop date. The same workshop will be ran all days advertised.
Suitable for: Children aged 7-12 years old.
£8 per child. Please bring a packed lunch for your child. Drop off and collection will be at National Glass Centre. Parental supervision is optional, but we will require all parents/ guardians to complete a medical and emergency consent form to prior to the workshop.
In this workshop, children will:
- Learn about the science of glass with exciting experiments using a range of materials. Practice measuring and making predications.
- Discuss findings and write up the outcomes of the experiments.
- Draw the experiments and label the equipment.
- Create a fused glass tile using coloured glass tiles and frit. Learn about the glass fusing process of heating and cooling and how a kiln works.
*Fused glass needs to be fired in the kiln so pieces must be collected at a later date. We aim to have these ready for collection approximately 10-14 days after the workshop date but cannot guarantee it.
