Home is Where the Art Is: Family Animation Workshop

THIS EVENT IS NOW FULLY BOOKED
with Sheryl Jenkins and Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.

4-16 August – Sign up by 3 August

Take inspiration from art works in the Arts Council Collection to create your own animated film using drawings, cut out characters and collage techniques.

This is a free activity, suitable for all ages. You can take part at home with the guidance of professional film maker and animator Sheryl Jenkins through a closed Facebook Group.

Working online with animator Sheryl Jenkins, you and your family will design and make a short animated film exploring the themes of home, comfort, wellbeing, community and celebrations. The project will take place in a closed Facebook group so you will need a Facebook account in order to take part, and be able to submit work using a free online file sharing resource called WeTransfer.

The closed group will give you access to video guides, worksheets, tips and examples, which will support you to make your own animated film. No previous animation knowledge is required, but you will need access to a device such as a tablet or smartphone, and be able to download a free animation app.

You’ll receive a brief from Sheryl and she will guide you through the animation process, helping you to learn about filmmaking and supporting you in developing your ideas and animation skills. You will be able to share your work in progress with other members of the group – or maybe even collaborate on an idea together!

At the end of the project the animated work will be premiered online before being shared with the wider community.

There are a limited number of places for this activity – if you would like to take part please complete the expression of interest form below and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
