HOT NEW IT

Presented by The Spaghetti Factory

15 November – 5 January 2020

The Spaghetti Factory presents the HOT NEW IT, a series of exhibitions at Sunderland Museum featuring contemporary talent from Sunderland alongside artwork from Sunderland Museum’s permanent collection.

The first in the series of exhibitions features three local artists from University of Sunderland: Sarah Winslett, Anthony Amoako Attah and Elizabeth Griffith. Each artist’s work has been specially selected to complement the work in the Museum’s Art Gallery and explores ideas of landscape, body image, and identity through glassware design.

The Spaghetti Factory is a North East-based curatorial project that started as a space to allow experimentation in a non-formal setting. The project has since expanded to include events, workshops and the guest curation of regional galleries and pop-up spaces.

Hot New It is supported through Sunderland Culture’s curatorial internship at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens. This internship is offered as part of the Unlock strand of Sunderland Culture’s Great Place programme, with funding from the National Lottery and Coastal Communities Fund, which seeks to develop skills in the creative sector and open up more opportunities for emerging creative professionals in the city.
