An absolute must for the opening season at The Fire Station, we are delighted to welcome the inimitable black-humoured bard of Newcastle, Richard Dawson for a one-off, solo performance of his unique musical commentary on the world around us and to baptise the auditorium as only he can.

Now onto his sixth solo album (2020) and with Henki, a collaborative record with Finnish band Circle out in November, Richard Dawson is a singular voice, part savant-genius, part court jester; a songwriter whose subjects and characters are often drawn from the local, the historical and the colloquial, yet have a timelessness to them, his music echoing with voices past, present and future. There is a continuity. Here is life, in all its strange and wonderful ways.

With support from Me Lost Me.

Me Lost Me is the electronic music project of Newcastle-based musician/artist Jayne Dent. Me Lost Me delights in experimenting with genre, taking influence from folk, art pop, ambient and noise music to create a beguiling mix of soaring vocals, synth, field recordings and hypnotic rhythms. Her live shows are atmospheric, dark and playful, with a repertoire that explores storytelling through original songs, improvisations and reworkings of traditional ballads.

This event is part of The Fire Station opening season – Firestarters. Firestarters is commissioned by Sunderland Music Arts and Culture Trust and supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
