An exhibition of contemporary drawing and Arabic calligraphy by Padma Rao + Roohia Syed-Ahmed. Also featuring work by Kainat Javed and Parveen Abdur. Presented by Sangini in partnership with Sunderland Culture and The Cultural Spring.

In these challenging times, a group of women from the Bangladeshi community have come together to support and help each other through online arts and crafts sessions.

Working with a visual artist from Sunderland (Padma Rao), and an Islamic artist (Roohia Syed-Ahmed) the women have explored the idea of culture, cultural entitlement and identity through the art of Arabic Calligraphy, contemporary drawing and text during online workshops.

This exhibition is the culmination of the project, featuring work produced during the community workshops alongside the work of professional artists

Take a virtual tour around the Srijoni exhibition.
