Story Explorers

Stories for children aged 6 and under / Online

Sunderland Music Hub, Sunderland Libraries and Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens are delighted to share with you their joint project, Story Explorers!

Story Explorers is a project for children aged 6 and under, created during lockdown when children, their families and carers are unable to visit their favourite Sunderland venues.

Story Explorers is a partnership project from Sunderland Music Hub, Sunderland Culture and Sunderland Libraries Services. It brings together storytelling and singalongs with some of the wonderful collections at Sunderland Libraries Services and Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens.

This project has been supported using public funding from Sunderland Music Hub through Department for Education and Arts Council England, Sunderland City Council and Sunderland Libraries Services and Sunderland Culture through Arts Council England.

Story Explorers: Jack Crawford

Our new Story Explorers video tells the tale of Sunderland legend Jack Crawford!

Join Ashleigh from Sunderland Music Hub and special guest, musician and historian Keith Gregson, as they tell us the story of Jack Crawford through song and story-telling. Watch it here.

Story Explorers: Wallace the Lion

Rap, sing and listen along to the fantastic tale of our very own Wallace the Lion!

Join Ashleigh from Sunderland Music Hub and special guest, local rapper Kema Kay, as they tell us the story of Wallace through story-telling, song and rap, followed by a Wallace trail through our Winter Gardens.

Wallace the lion is one of our most-loved exhibits. You can learn more and visit Wallace here in person at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens!

Story Explorers: International Women’s Day – Abbie Robinson

In support of International Women’s Day 2021, we’re going to tell you the story of an amazing woman from Sunderland who followed her dreams – Abbie Robsinson.

Abbie is a British paraclimber who also happens to be blind.  So join us for a storytelling singalong as we hear Abbie’s story which is all about not letting any challenges get in the way of your dreams!

Once you’ve finished the video then why not have a go at our fun activity to go with it?
