The Lindisfarne Gospels travel north in the autumn to the Laing Gallery in Newcastle. In this talk Professor Ewan Clayton, a calligrapher and historian of writing, discusses the making of the book from an artistic point of view. What materials were used? What crafts did the task involve?

This talk is provided by the University of Sunderland as part of the public programme for the Art & Design Degree Show, Emerge which runs until 31 August 2022.
