Time to Shine

Saturday 25 March – Saturday 22 April 2023
10am-4pm, Art Lounge
Free/No booking required

This is the first exhibition of the Older Women Artists Collective (OWAC), a group of artists who live and work in Sunderland. It is a continuation of the links and friendships made during the National Partners Programme with Arts Council Collection (2019 -2022) when the group first came together to work on creative projects.

Time to Shine is inspired by the beauty and intricacy of the Shropshire Sun Pendant, a decorative gold object featured in the British Museum’s Spotlight Loan exhibition, Gathering light: a Bronze Age golden sun. The exhibition celebrates the lived experience of the group members and their creative connection to the artisans working 3000 years ago.

This exhibition has been made possible thanks to generous funding from Arts Council England through the National Partners Programme with Arts Council Collection. With thanks to the members of OWAC; Gaynor Clarke, Deborah Doyle, Julie Easton, Maggie Hsiao, Alison Naisby, Kath Price, Padma Rao, Stephanie Smith, Agnieszka Wood & Lijie Zhang.
