Washington ‘F’ Pit: A Virtual Tour
To celebrate this year’s Heritage Open Days, this year we’re doing things a little bit differently and have produced a new way for you to explore one of Sunderland’s historic buildings – Washington F Pit!
Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,000 local people and organisations, and thousands of volunteers. Every year in September, places across the country throw open their doors to celebrate their heritage, community and history.
Washington F Pit Museum is a former engine house in Washington which is owned and managed by Sunderland City Council. It usually opens in September for Heritage Open Days but this year will remain closed due to Covid 19 restrictions. Instead a new 360° virtual tour will allow visitors to explore Washington F Pit from the comfort of their own living rooms. We hope you enjoy discovering more about Washington’s industrial heritage.
This virtual tour has been produced by Art Matters Now on behalf of Sunderland Culture. Washington F Pit is owned and managed by Sunderland City Council.
