Youth Arts Exhibition 2021: Bright Lights

Youth Arts Exhibition 2021: Bright Lights
Arts Centre Washington

Thank you to everyone who submitted work for this year’s exhibition.  As the gallery is still closed to the public the work will be displayed online and in public places in Washington.  We are currently working on an exciting programme and will be in contact shortly with details.

Arts Centre Washington’s annual Youth Arts Exhibition is looking for submissions for BRIGHT LIGHTS 2021. Supported by Sunderland Culture, BRIGHT LIGHTS will showcase some of the most exciting artwork by young people in Washington and the Greater Sunderland Area, and will be curated by The Celebrate Different Collective.

The themes of this year’s exhibition are inspired by the Paint the Town in Sound exhibition at Sunderland Museum Winter Gardens. The Themes are:

Expression and Identity

The Modern World

The Lockdown

Locality and Heritage

Freedom and Social Change

We will also be producing a digital version of the exhibition.

The Celebrate Different Collective is a group of young people aged 13-25 from across Sunderland who, with support from Sunderland Culture, co-produce and run their own cultural events, work with artists and learn new practical skills. The group explored the artists and themes in Sunderland Museum and Winter Garden’s upcoming exhibition Paint the Town in Sound, part of Arts Council Collection National Partners programme, to determine the themes of this years Bright Lights Exhibition.
