Heritage At Heart: Online Exhibition

Heritage at Heart is an online exhibition which examines the links between Sunderland’s industrial past and artworks from the Arts Council Collection.

Presenting objects, archival documents and photographs from the Museum’s collection, alongside artworks from the Arts Council Collection, the exhibition unearths Sunderland’s mining, shipbuilding, glass, pottery, automobile, rope and construction industries.

The exhibition also explores how industry continues to inform and influence artists today.

Featuring artworks by Rana Begum, Prunella Clough, Richard Deacon, Jeremy Deller, Larry Herman, L.S. Lowry, Ian Macdonald, Tom McGuinness, Grayson Perry, Carol Rhodes, Gary Webb and Richard Woods.

Heritage at Heart is a National Partners Programme exhibition with the Arts Council Collection.

Below, Arts Council Collection artworks have been paired with Sunderland Museum’s heritage collection exploring the connections between two very different collections.

Look out for artworks and objects with the Heritage at Heart logo. These are currently on display at Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens and can be located by matching floor markers. Ask a member of our Visitor Services team if you would like a helping hand.
