Things at National Glass Centre are a little different as we continue to address the storm damage to the riverside front of the building. Find out more in our Visitor Information

Following storm damage to the front of the building, the riverside entrance is currently closed until repair work is complete. Access to the building is via the main upper entrance located next to the carpark.

Our team have worked hard to make changes so that we can continue to offer visitors a packed programme of exhibitions, events, activities and shopping. Our ever-popular glass blowing demonstrations take place at 12:00pm, 13:45pm and 15:00pm every day. We have a jam-packed programme of family activities and adult workshops, ready to inspire and entertain visitors of all ages. And visiting families can also pick up adventure backpacks from Visitor Services to discover fun things to do while you’re here.

If you’re not sure how to get somewhere, or have any questions or concerns, our friendly Visitor Services team are always on hand to help. Visit our reception desk which is just inside the building foyer when you come through the main entrance or get in touch.

What’s different?

A large area of our ground floor is currently closed.

Our shop has been relocated to a space on the first floor so you can still browse and buy locally crafted glass, ceramics and jewellery as well as homeware, toys and gifts.

The Glass Yard Cafe has also relocated to a space on the first floor of the building. You can still enjoy a range of freshly prepared hot and cold meals, drinks and sweet treats with great views of the University’s St Peter’s Campus and the riverside.

There is a new entrance for Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art. This is located down the righthand side of National Glass Centre as you approach the riverside. Please follow the signage outside out building which starts at the main entrance of the building and leads you down to the right place.

The new route to the Hot Glass blowing studio where the demonstrations take place is accessible via walkway behind the scenes which people find very interesting. We also have a lift option to avoid the walkway if you choose.
