Arts Centre Washington is an exciting, multi-disciplinary arts space with plenty of room for you to explore, learn and take part. We have a thriving Learning and Participation programme which we are very proud of.  Some sessions are delivered by ourselves, others with our studio partners or external practitioners.

  • For Children and Young People

    Creative You – Teenage Craft Club
    Tuesdays (Fortnightly), 5pm-6.30pm, free
    A space to for young people to meet, learn and create. Learn craft skills with a variety of guest artists and makers and get the chance to sell your work at craft fairs.

    Creative You – Bright Lights Young Artists Collective
    Tuesdays, 7pm-8:30pm, free
    A group for young people ages 11-19 who want to develop their artistic skills and knowledge.
    • Develop your style / practice
    • Work with and meet local professional artists
    • Take part in workshops in different art forms
    • Share ideas with likeminded young artist

    Creative You – Washington Young Film Makers Collective
    Mondays, 4:30pm-6:30pm, free at Washington Millennium Centre
    Write, shoot and edit your own movies learning about the equipment and techniques along the way in this fun series of free workshops!

    Creative You – Washington Young Writers Collective
    Wednesdays (Fortnightly), 4:30pm-6:30pm, free at Washington Library
    A series of exciting creative writing workshops exploring storytelling through folklore, urban legend and mythology. We will create own mythologies and find out how to retell and adapt legends and folklore to reflect our own lives!

    Saturdays 10am – 12pm 8 – 12 years
    12.30 – 2.30pm 13 – 18 years
    Join the Washington Youth Theatre Company and learn about stagecraft and script writing, take part in productions and films as well as making great new friends along the way. £6.00 per session

    Saturday Art Club

    Join the Saturday Art Club and find out just how much fun art can really be, for children 8+

    Right Track
    Saturdays 10am – 12pm, Free
    A project to develop young, creative and inspiring musicians between the ages of 12-21.
    You don’t have to play an instrument or have any performance experience..  All we require are creative and enthusiastic young musicians looking to develop their music skills.

    Colourful, creative (often messy!) art, craft and creative play sessions for babies, toddlers and children
