CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Arts Centre Washington’s annual Youth Arts Exhibition is searching for submissions for BRIGHT
LIGHTS. Supported by Sunderland Culture, BRIGHT LIGHTS will showcase some of the most
exciting artwork by young people in Washington and the Greater Sunderland Area, and will be
curated by a group of young local artists. This is an exciting opportunity for 11-19 year olds to
submit artwork for display in Arts Centre Washington’s professional gallery, or to join us as a
young curator to learn how to select artwork for exhibition and design an exhibition.
All submissions, whether included in the final exhibition or not, will be uploaded to a public
Instagram account using the hashtag #brightlightsofsunderland and our website as a record of
your achievement so you can share the work with your family and friends.
Submissions open until 12noon Friday 4th January 2019.
ARTWORK CRITERIA
Please submit up to three images per artwork you wish to submit. You can submit a maximum
of three artworks.
As we are limited in space, we have a restriction of A1 size for 2D artworks, and 1mx1m (footprint)
for 3D or sculptural work. Please consider this when submitting your work for review.
For each artwork, please complete the attached form and email it, along with your submission
images (no originals please), to [email protected] or post to:

If you are submitting more than one artwork, please complete a different form for each piece
and clearly label your image files so they refer to the artwork title.
Digital Submission deadline: 12noon Friday 4th January 2019. Please note, if you are successful,
physical submissions will be accepted from 10am-4pm on 19, 20, 21 and 22 January 2019.
At the end of the exhibition, artwork can be collected from 10am on 29th March, and all artwork
must be collected by 6 April.
