We’re delighted to have reopened following recent storm damage!
Things will be a little bit different for a while as we continue to address the storm damage to the riverside front of the building. But our team has worked hard to make changes so that we can offer visitors a packed programme of exhibitions, events, activities and shopping.
The downstairs entrance is still closed, so we’ve temporarily relocated our much loved shop upstairs, with its selection of beautiful, locally crafted glass and ceramic artworks and jewellery, as well as homeware, toys and gifts.
Our Glass Yard café has also relocated upstairs so pop in for a hot drink and sweet treat!
Our brand new exhibition – Glass World – is open in the NGC Gallery featuring some of the remarkable works in our permanent collection from artists based in thirty different countries. Our Collections Gallery and Stories of Glass permanent exhibition are also open to enjoy.
Acclaimed British artist Mike Nelson’s Hybrid Scripts is open in NGCA Gallery – there will be a meeting point upstairs in reception for visitors to gather and be escorted to the exhibition.
In NGCA’s Collection Space Jade Sweeting; 900 Miles (from Home) is on display, along with the artist’s cherished Ironhead motorbike.
Our ever-popular glass blowing demonstrations will be going ahead again. We’ll be posting details each day on our website to confirm the demonstration times, so be sure to check before you visit.
We have a jam-packed festive programme of family activities and adult courses, ready to inspire and entertain visitors of all ages. And families visiting can also pick up a trail and a backpack from reception to discover fun things to do while you’re here.
Any questions or concerns, our friendly Visitor Services team are on hand as always to answer any queries at reception, on [email protected] or 0191 515 5555 option 4.
We’ve can’t wait to welcome you to National Glass Centre!
