Workshop information

On this 5-day course, artist Zoe Garner will guide you through the exciting possibilities of glass flameworking. You will learn the basics of the flameworking technique using borosilicate glass rods (PYREX). You will then experiment with a range of techniques to design and create a collection of unique 3-dimensional sea-life inspired forms.

Zoe Garner is a north-east based artist specialising in flameworked glass. Her work explores how small changes, perhaps generated by sound or movement, can have a ripple effect that often goes unnoticed. Using scientific principles such as symmetry and balance, Zoe poses wider questions about the environmental impact of our day-to-day activity, and our interest in materialism.

The Creative Dimension Trust (TCDT) offers workshops, where tuition and materials are free, to young people aged 14 – 19 years old, who show potential in forging a career pathway where precise hand-eye co-ordination, and the ability to understand and construct 3-dimensional shapes are prerequisite.
