The Fire Station is a vibrant, mid-scale live music and performance venue in the heart of Sunderland – housing the brand-new state-of-the-art auditorium and the Engine Room bar & bistro. Whether you’re an indie rock champion, adventurous jazzer, theatre buff, comedy enthusiast or just after a great night out, our programme is packed with entertainment from music and comedy to dance and theatre. With studios, rehearsal space and teaching rooms upstairs, we’re inviting you to give it a go for yourself as well as nurturing the next generation of performers.
The impressive restoration of the 1908 Central Fire Station was completed by the Sunderland MAC Trust in 2017, with the Engine Room bar & bistro becoming a staple in the city for anyone looking for a place with great atmosphere to meet friends for good food and a drink.
