What is an Ignite Bursary?

The Ignite Bursary programme is here to support creative young people in Sunderland who are experiencing hardship or challenging circumstances. It’s a chance to get some financial support to help you grow your artistic knowledge and skills – potentially leading to studying creative subjects or even a creative career.

You can apply for up to £500 to help you pay for things that will help your creative journey. This money is called a bursary, and you don’t need to pay it back at any point.

Who can apply?

You need to have a strong interest in creative arts. We want you to tell us about the creative thing you love doing, that you can show a passion for, and which you would like to develop and improve.

You need to be aged between 12 and 18 years old (or up to 25 if you have special educational needs or disabilities).

You must live in Sunderland.

You’ll also need to meet some other criteria, which you can find out about in the Application Guidance Notes.

When do I need to apply?

The closing date for this round of bursary applications is February 28 2025. There will be more chances during the year to apply, so keep checking back here for more information.
