Event description

Our annual Youth Arts Exhibition, showcasing some of the most exciting artwork created by young people.

Bright Lights is Arts Centre Washington’s annual youth arts exhibition. For over thirty years we’ve showcased some of the most talented young artists in Washington and the greater Sunderland area. This is an exciting opportunity for 11–19-year-olds to submit their work for display in Arts Centre Washington’s main gallery.

The exhibition is curated by the Celebrate Different Collective, a group of young people aged 13-25 from across Sunderland who, with support from Sunderland Culture, co-produce and run their own cultural events, work with artists and learn new practical skills.

This year the group asked artists to respond to the theme of ‘What is the future and my place in the world?’

Bright Lights Youth Arts Festival is part of Culture Start, an exciting programme designed to help children and young people in Sunderland take part in free creative and cultural events.
