Event description

National Glass Centre would like to invite you to join us for free guided tours of the building on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September. Find out about the history of glass making in Sunderland, take in our exhibitions, including People’s Art – bringing together popular art and contemporary craft, and a new display of glass by British artists in our Collection Gallery.

View the atmospheric and insightful photographs and artworks from renowned artist Ian Macdonald in Fixing Time in the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art gallery. There will also be a short quiz with a chance to win a prize at the end of the tour.

Following the theme of our People’s Art exhibition, we are also offering puppet making and rag rug making activities on a drop-in basis on both days.

  • Tours: 11.00 am and 2.30 pm.
  • Craft activities: 10.00 am to 12 noon and 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm
