Event description
A special screening of ‘In the Veins’, a new short film that resonates through time, using over a century of archive footage to shine a light onto the face of the mining heritage of Yorkshire and the North East of England.
This film will be paired with a 1986 Tyne Tees Television documentary ‘Trouble and Strife’ that follows two groups of County Durham miners’ wives who, one year on from the 1984-85 Miners’ Strike are continuing the fight to save coal mining in the region.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with ‘Women Against Pit Closures’ campaigner Heather Wood plus representatives from the North East Film Archive and Teesside University.
