Event description

The second in a series of short film presentations submitted by students from Fine Art at University of Sunderland.

This video, filmed in Blyton amid the storied Derwent Valley, explores a landscape once thriving with iron and steel during the Industrial Revolution. Today, nature reigns, transforming the area into lush woodlands, vibrant riverbanks, and thriving grasslands teeming with wildlife. Part of the Quiet Alchemy multimedia project, it examines links between nature, science, and art.

Artist Kasia Parker uses natural materials and historic methods in her work, including oak galls from this very region to craft her drawing inks, blending past and present.
